Christmas just passed and my tree is still up and will continue to be up until after Three kings day which is (I think) January 6. New Years eve is tomorrow I don’t have anything planned but what I do know is that I’ve been reading the same book for a few months and it’s getting on my nerves. I only read it on the commute to work (sometimes since I hear the mp3 most of the time) and I HAVE to finish it before next year. BTW I’m reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I do enjoy the book but it’s time to let the characters go.

First African American Comic
The first African American comic book is up for auction. The comic book called “All Negro Comics” was created in 1947 by an African-American journalist, Orrin C. Evans and sold for 15cents. Now, it is a very rare comic book being actioned at ComicConnet.com current bid is $6,500. I hope whoever gets it will post the pics on a blog.
F.Y.I. auction ends Friday, March 13, 2009 @ 8pm.
Tonight on the National Geographic Channel they are giving a program about the Colombia Hostage Rescue. It is the story about these men (I think they were contract workers for the C.I.A) that were in a helicopter that crashed in the mountain jungles of Colombia where a group of terrorists called the FARC captures them and held them hostage for 5 years. I had heard a little about it from the media when one of the hostages Ingrid Betancourt (she was running for President of Colombia) was rescued. I didn’t know other people were rescued as well and tonight NGC will air it. If you don’t get a chance to watch tonight, there is also a book about this ordeal called, Out of Captivity: Surviving 1,967 days in the Colombian Jungle. I think it is very important for us to know what is going on in other parts of the world and not be ignorant or oblivious to the wrong doings.
I’ve been reading the book Streets A memoir of the Lower East Side by Bella Spewack. This is the same woman that wrote (with her husband) the play Kiss Me Kate, this play won a Tony Award for best musical in 1949. As you read this book you wonder how this young girl living in the slums gets to the point where she wins an award, remarkable. I don’t want to finish reading it. I found a website where you can experience the history of the Lower East Side, Tenement Museum. I remember going to the Lower East Side on a few occasions, one of those occasions was to look for a graduation dress. I was graduating from elementary school and I found a peach colored dress that I loved. Last time I went by the LES there were a lot of trendy lounges and little boutiques.

Mansfield Park
I’ve just discovered Jane Austen. I haven’t read any of her books but I’ve watched two or three of the movies based on her books and I really enjoyed them. Maybe this was the muse I was looking for. At the moment I’m printing some pages form her book Mansfield Park. The entire book is on google.com but I dislike reading books online. I can read an article with no problem but I still can’t get use to reading pages and pages of literature from a monitor. One of the reasons for disliking reading from a monitor might me that it bothers my eyes. I don’t know if that Kindle from Amazon.com would be any better but I still enjoy holding a book and turning pages. Call me old fashion.
I’ve been reading the same book for a few months. The only time I do most of my reading is during my commute to work. Even though I have about half the book to read I already have my eye on another book. I want to read The Audacity of Hope by our president elect Barack Obama. A lot of people are reading it, Amazon.com has sold out both the hard cover and paperback. Have you read it?
I just finished reading “Running Wild” about the life of silent screen actress Clara Bow. It was a really good book that I was sad to finish. Now I’m in search of another book to read. I’ve been anticipating the release of a new book called, “Waiter Rant” it came out on Tuesday. The book is about the waiter and what happens after you place your order. I don’t know if that’ll be the next book I’ll read but it’s definitely on my list.

Okay I have a serious problem. The pounds just keep adding on and I have nothing to wear, again. So I have to really be serious and stop eating crap. Beside the eating I have to do some exercise. To help other like me I’ll be adding a bunch of weight loss stuff in my Zara store. Hope some of it can help. By the way this goes for all you overweight men out there too. Don’t think it’s only use girls that need to shed some pounds.
I just finished reading,
You’ll Never Nanny in This Town Again: The True Adventures of a Hollywood Nanny by Suzanne Hansen. I enjoyed reading about Suzy the nanny and the people she worked for and learning about how the 10% live. Damn them! As you read you’ll see that not everyone in Hollywood is the same. Thankfully.
Now what to read?
I’m reading LIFE OF PI and I only have a few more pages left. I had started reading it last year or so but I put it down one day and didn’t pick it up until recently. There are parts that I could have gone without but overall it’s a book that I would recommend. My problem is, what do I read next? I was looking at what was on the bestseller list and I see that the book Oprah has on her book club has been there for a long time.  But I don’t know I have mixed feeling about reading it. I don’t know if I care for its content but it seems a lot of people do. Has anyone read it? It’s called A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle.
