Christmas just passed and my tree is still up and will continue to be up until after Three kings day which is (I think) January 6. New Years eve is tomorrow I don’t have anything planned but what I do know is that I’ve been reading the same book for a few months and it’s getting on my nerves. I only read it on the commute to work (sometimes since I hear the mp3 most of the time) and I HAVE to finish it before next year. BTW I’m reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I do enjoy the book but it’s time to let the characters go.
Today I’m home trying to de-clutter and rearrange. I have no decorating sense and don’t even know where to start. I’m looking at HGTV.com to get some ideas or some inspiration but I just feel completely lost. The stuff they have on the site is too nice and beautiful. I need some decor ideas that works with what I already have. Maybe I should take an interior design class so I can make sense of what I have. I’ll keep looking and HGTV to see if I come across something I can use.
I’ve been reading the book Streets A memoir of the Lower East Sideby Bella Spewack. This is the same woman that wrote (with her husband) the play Kiss Me Kate, this play won a Tony Award for best musical in 1949. As you read this book you wonder how this young girl living in the slums gets to the point where she wins an award, remarkable. I don’t want to finish reading it. I found a website where you can experience the history of the Lower East Side, Tenement Museum. I remember going to the Lower East Side on a few occasions, one of those occasions was to look for a graduation dress. I was graduating from elementary school and I found a peach colored dress that I loved. Last time I went by the LES there were a lot of trendy lounges and little boutiques.
I was bored so I created this picture. I didn’t actually draw it, I’m not that talented. I haven’t painted in years. I bought the canvas paper, the brushes, the paint but I haven’t made much more of an effort. I really enjoy paining but I don’t really have the desire anymore. I need a muse. I don’t know where I’m gonna find it. It would be great if I wake up one morning totally inspired and filled with ideas. Maybe one day.
Tecnobrega music is coming out of the poorest districts in Brazil. The music uses either old hits or new compositions and then its remixed with the tecnobrega. Tecnobrega is a mix of electronic beats that were popular, catchy yet cheesy “brega” beats in the 1980’s. Tencobrega is a regional music that might not appeal to some people but it’s popular in some parts of Brazil especially Belem. Other similar Tencobrega music is being produced in places like Angola, Suriname and South Africa. The people have made this music into a phenomenal because it’s do danceable. Check out 50 Cent in Tecnobrega…
I was very happy to hear that director Steven Soderbergh was directing Benicio Del Toro in the movie Che but it seems like it’s been years waiting for it to come out in theaters. Where’s Che? Did the movie come out and I missed it? Did it come out in another country first and it’s on it’s way to the States? Was it out only for a limited time? I guess I’ll wait a few more months then check if it came out on DVD yet.
