French Lessons

Today was a lazy sunday.

I watched La Vie en Rose.  I really enjoyed it, it’s about the life of the French singer Edith Piaf.  This weekend I also heard  L’Incedndiby Vanessa  Paradis the song is really nice even though I have no idea what she’s singing about.  Maybe I should learn some French.  I know Spanish, so that might help.  I wonder how long it would take to learn a new language?

Obama on The View

Today I made sure to watch The View because Borack Obama was going to be on.  I not only wanted to see what he was going to say but I wanted to see Elizabeth say something stupid.  And it was very interesting how he told her “imagine if somebody compiled the five stupidest things you ever said…” and you hear a slight laughter from someone and then look at Joy.  I think Joy liked his comment as well.  In watching Obama today I think he is someone that would make a great leader, a leader to lead us out of the shit hole that Bush has dug us all into.  I’m just saying.

Brazilian Wax

Okay ladies,  brace  yourself.  We’ve shaved and plucked to make ourselves looked beautiful and now Brazil has brought us something new, the Brazilian Wax.  For those of you that do not know what kind of wax that is let’s just say, it’s the MOTHER of all waxes.  Watch and you will see what I mean.

Labels

As I was blogging the other day about Walmart I started to think how I can’t remember looking at a label and seeing “Made in the United States” so I’ve decided to looked at a portion of my clothes and see where they were made.  Right now I’m going to start by running to the bathroom and looking to see where my jeans and my shirt were made.  I’ll be right back…Okay I’m back.  The shirt which I got from Ann Taylor Loft was made in Thailand and the jeans in Guatemala.  Where were your clothes made?

Walmart Sucks Update 2

walmart2.jpg

I have to remind you that I am NOT a fan of Walmart but I have to admit that I did go into one of their stores last week and bought some plastic containers.  Now I could just slap myself.  I’ve written about how Walmart takes advantage of their workers overseas(which are mostly women) and how in Mexico adolescents work as unpaid baggers.  (Check out my Just So You Know section or my Buzz Section to learn more) and now Walmart is yet again in the news and it isn’t for its sales.  A woman that worked in one of the stores was in a terrible car accident and was in the hospital.  She had insurance through her job, WALMART.  The bill came to $400,000 plus.  Meanwhile the family was awarded money from the company that was involved in the crash.  Now WALMART wants its money back. But the situation gets worse, her son died in Iraq and her husband has prostate cancer.  Read more of the story here.

WALMART YOU SUCK!  It is said that the retail giant reported net sales in the third quarter of $90 billion and yet they have to sue a woman that was in such a bad accident she still asks for her son.

Easter Coloring

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.  I’m not going to church, I’m not cooking Ham or making Turkey.  I will not be Easter Egg Hunting and I will not be wearing a Yellow dress with a white hit and matching shoes.  I will be cooking Pork shoulder with yellow rice and green pigeon peas and I will make a salad out of red onions, tomatoes and lemon juice and boil some green bananas.  I will be cleaning with my new vacuum cleaner and if I have a few moments I will be coloring online.

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Rated Blog

Today I went to a website to rate my blog and when you click HERE you can have your blog rated too.  The site also explains why the site was rated what it was.

My blog was rated…

Trashy

For those women (and some men) that might enjoy dressing up I found a site that thousands or millions might already know about but I just found it, Trashy.com.  I love the stuff they have it’s so different from the typical over priced stores (aka Victoria Secret).  I don’t know if others feel the same but I feel that a lot of the stuff @ VS is overpriced.  But the company has been around for a very long time so they do have the clientele.  But for those looking for something a little different check out Trashy.

I’m not crazy about the name, it should be called, Let’s Have Fun.com

Vacuum Clean

Today we went to SEARS to buy a vacuum.  The one we wanted was on sale but the sales person (a young guy that has probably never picked up a vacuum in his life)began by telling us that he had a better vacuum.  I don’t know if it was better but it was $100 dollars more.  HELL NO!  He was so annoying.  I was ready to walk out but I really wanted the vacuum.  Then after purchasing it we walked around the store and ended up near the vacuum section again and the sales person came to us and told us the only vacuum they had was the one on display.  HELL NO!  To make a long story short the sales kid had to go to the warehouse section and along the way mentioned he had to punch out 15 minutes ago (like I care) and he found the vacuum.  I got home used it and it’s great.

Travel Sydney

I think we need to get away.  It has been a long time since we’ve been on vacation.  But the question is where to go?  There is a whole lotta world.  I’ve checked out some sites online but all they offer are hotel, airfare and car rental which is good but not great.  If I go somewhere I haven’t been before how do I know what to do or where to go?  A friend that does far more travelling than I do told me to check out Flights to Sydney.  I wasn’t thinking of traveling so far but she told me the site she used was very helpful and she actually got to speak to a live person that customized her trip. She told me if I go to Sydney to check out coastal Queensland where the stunning World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef is nearby.

Tomorrow I’m buying luggage.
